Businessman focuses on addiction

Rep. Nick Bain (D-Alcorn) and Speaker Pro Tempore Greg Snowden introduced Corinth native Tommy Wilson of Living Free Ministries in the House of Representatives on Thursday. Wilson led House members in a word of prayer to open the day’s session.

Tommy Wilson led Mississippi House members in a word of prayer last Thursday.

The Corinth native’s love of Christ touches everyone he impacts from the Crossroads to the state Capitol.

“I know Jesus is the answer, and my desire is to share that with everyone,” said Wilson, who from age 15 to 30 was a hardcore drug addict and dealer. In 1998, after attending several church services with his wife, Wilson found God.

“I watched God turn my life around,” he said. “Nineteen drug-free years later, I am a satisfied customer of what He has done in my life.”

Wilson operates Living Free Ministries in Corinth where he helps people who are struck in the same place he used to be.

“The non-residential faith-based addiction recovery program is dedicated to helping people with life controlling issues find freedom, healing and deliverance in Jesus Christ,” said Wilson. “We have meetings and meals three times a week. Through small groups, celebration night and men’s Bible study, we learn new approaches to life using the Word of God, the Spirit of God and the People of God.”

Living Free is often the starting point for people who need long-term care. Whether by meeting physical needs or spiritual needs, Living Free has helped thousands of people in the North Mississippi and West Tennessee area.

“There is no cost to attend a Living Free program and all programs are open to the public,” he added.

Living Free also sponsors group meetings in the community at East Booneville Baptist Church in Booneville, County Line Baptist Church in Walnut and, most recently, Oakland Baptist Church in Corinth.

Wilson and his team also hosts a group meeting each week at the Alcorn School District Alternative School.

Wilson is also a local businessman.

He owns Corinth Mattress & Furniture Outlet in Corinth.

When not serving the community through his ministry, Wilson loves getting good wholesale deals on mattresses and furniture and passing the savings along to the public he serves.

“We have a huge stock of top name brand mattresses, recliners, furniture and more at wholesale to the public prices … something for everyone and for every price range,” said Wilson. “At Corinth’s Mattress & Furniture Outlet, we strive to find your perfect mattress at a price within your budget so that you can enjoy countless nights of comfortable and supportive sleep.”
